DIY Peppermint Bark Popcorn

Does anyone in your family or friends list love getting those great, big popcorn tins with the assortments of different flavors of popcorn?!  I can think of one in particular who have this on their Christmas list. My husband is not too difficult to shop for this holiday season.

We're going to be throwing our own little twist on the fun snack that you'll be able to hand out this year around the big family tree. I'm going to be sharing this recipe for peppermint bark popcorn. I can promise everyone is going to remind you to bring it again next year! Did I mention, I've already eaten this delicious snack four times this week?

This simple DIY is a great gift idea (and yes, even last minute too) for anyone! Who doesn't love cute, home-made, prepackaged goodie bags on Christmas?! This would be a great one for the kiddos too!

Everything in total is only going to break the bank of about $15. It's a quick trip to the grocery store, timeless to achieve, and there's no wrapping necessary! Throw a cute bow on your package or a festive name tag to leave a stamp of your creativity. Place these goodies in a basket and you have yourself a hosting holiday snack!

  • 1/2 dairy free chocolate chips

 2. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second intervals, (about three times) until the chocolate becomes smooth.
 3. Mix in the peppermint extract with the melted chocolate and stir.
 4. Place the cooled popcorn on a baking sheet.
 5. Pour the chocolate mixture over the popcorn, making sure to coat each piece.
 6. Store in the freezer for 5 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
 7. Using the red and green writing icing, mark up all the extra spaces of popcorn and make it look extra festive
 8. Store in the freezer until everything hardens.

The final step to include: pack your peppermint bark popcorn in a gift bag and give it away or grab yourself a bowl and enjoy while you watch all your favorite Christmas movies!
